Press Release from Hereford Cathedral School:
The international school will be operated by Hereford International Schools Ltd, a trading subsidiary of Hereford Cathedral School, and will reflect the historic institution’s values, ethos and opportunities alongside an alignment with Rwandan culture and tradition.
The opening of the school in Kigali reflects the growing demand for high-quality education within the region and represents Hereford Cathedral School’s growing international presence, following the use of its names and marks in educational projects in Jiangsu Province, China. As the UK’s sixth oldest school, founded in 676AD, the opening of Hereford Cathedral School’s first international campus reflects a pivotal milestone in the organisation’s prestigious history.
The new school will be developed in partnership with the Savannah Creek Development Company, owned by Mr Dennis Karera whose company was responsible for Kigali Heights, widely known as one of Africa’s most successful and prestigious commercial projects.
Strategically located within a major luxury housing development in central Kigali (below), the capital of Rwanda, Hereford International School Kigali will cater for pupils aged 5 to 18. In line with Hereford Cathedral School’s commitments to co-education, and aligning with Rwanda’s global leadership in gender equality, the school will be a day school for girls and boys living in Kigali and the surrounding area.
