Saxtys Bar & Restaurant, which is based in Widemarsh Street in Hereford has recently been taken over by local business people Dave Stephenson and Paul Briscoe.
The popular venue which was originally founded in the 1980’s by former Hereford United Chairman Peter Hill had previously been run by local publican Steve Harrison.
Dave told us:
“Me and Paul have been friends for years and we were looking at taking on a hospitality venue for a while now, it took us around a year to find the right place, but when the opportunity to take over Saxtys arose we jumped at the chance.”
Dave added:
“It’s been a big learning curve and lots of challenges and long hours, but its been really enjoyable and I love the social aspect of the business and dealing with our customers.
“We promise to deliver exceptional service and look forward to welcoming customers old and new.”
Paul is proud of the range of drinks the duo have sourced for their business and told us:
“We stock a wide variety of Hawkstone drinks including premium lagers and cider, the brand is known by being promoted by Jeremy Clarkson.
“Plus we have a big range of cask ales, we also have a really popular Saturday morning breakfast that we have both launched which includes the delicious Herefordian Full English.”
The duo are delighted that Popular local Head Chef Martin Carter is still with the team and Christmas is shaping up to be an extremely busy time.
Paul commented:
“We have Bottomless Brunch events and we have extended our opening hours across December to cater for lots of festive parties, we still have a few spaces available so if you need a venue for your party please contact us and we will be delighted to help you celebrate with us.”
