The Plough on Whitecross Road, Hereford reopens today – Thursday 30th May – following an eight-week closure and a major £400,000 refurbishment by Heineken-owned Star Pubs.

To celebrate the reopening, new landlord, Dean Tortalino has booked the renowned Alex Bayross for the evening of Saturday 1st June.

A man of many talents, he’s both a DJ and a one-man band who uses vocals, guitar, piano & percussion to entertain and get people dancing.

The revamp has transformed The Plough into a top-quality family and dog-friendly pub with one of the best games rooms in the area.  Its unique décor includes striking digital wallpaper and artwork displaying Hereford’s history and cider making links, while the machinist metal and wood stools and leather covered seats are a nod to Hereford’s tanning history.

The layout with its staged area enables new landlordDean to host live entertainment every weekend and a Sunday evening quiz.  Different bars also make it possible for customers to hold private functions at the pub.

The games area has a new pool table and digital darts, and TVs showing live Sky and TNT sports.  And for those interested in pool and darts, Dean is keen to set up teams and for theme to compete in local leagues.

A new eclectic menu with everything from light bites, small plates and pub classics to Chicken Tikka Masala and Singapore Noodles means there’s something for everyone.   Children have their own menu to choose from.

As of 30th May, The Plough will open from 12 noon to 11pm daily.

Says Dean: “The Plough looks amazing.  There’s nothing like it in Hereford.

“The team and I have been busy training staff on the new menu and drinks, and the bar is stocked up in time for the bank holiday weekend.

I invited in a couple of residents to give them a peek at the changes, and they were amazed by the transformation, giving the new look a big thumbs up.  I can’t wait to open the doors and show the pub off to the wider community as the interest and excitement about it reopening has been enormous.”

Says Bruce Wellman, Operations Director for Star Pubs: “I am delighted with the refurbishment and think the community will be too.  Wishing everyone a relaxing and sociable bank holiday ahead, though no doubt Dean and his team will be busy with people popping in to have a look at their new local.”
