Herefordshire is full of wonderful eateries and places to visit and The Riverside at Aymestrey is certainly up there with the best.

Everything at The Riverside is made and cooked freshly on-site at the restaurant; including the stone-ground spelt bread, hay and meadowsweet ice creams and lavender fudge.

Andy Link and team have developed a menu that showcases the very best the region has to offer, with a strong focus on core ingredients complimented with a well thought balance of flavours and ingredients.

The Riverside at Aymestrey is also very flexible and accommodating to guest dietary requirements and can readily cater for Plant based meals, Vegans, Gluten free diets and allergens. The restaurant always appreciate being made aware of any requirements when booking.

‘Sustainability and ethical sourcing are core to everything we do at the restaurant. We grow and forage more of our own produce than ever and challenge ourselves to restrict food miles on anything we purchase wherever possible.

‘The kitchen garden is an important source of ingredients for our menus, as well as the heritage orchard, small holding and Lugg Valley itself for its abundance of wild herbs that we forage, supplemented with produce from Herefordshire, Shropshire and the Welsh border.

‘We have recently added local Rums, Cream Liqueurs and Welsh Whiskey to our offering and offer a selection of house cocktails using homemade and foraged ingredients.

‘Our wine list continues to develop too, support many Fairtrade, organic, ethical and biodynamic producers. We’re also increasing our support for English wines including Chapel Down, Sixteen Ridges and Severn Valley.

In 2022, Andy Link scooped two more accolades for The Riverside Inn, Herefordshire.

Andy Link, chef/patron at The Riverside Inn, Aymestrey won two major awards at the National Pub and Bar Awards 2022.

They were:

*Pub Chef of the Year

*West Midlands Pub of the Year

Andy says, “These awards are truly heartening after what has been one of the most difficult periods in the industry’s history.  I feel these awards are not just mine, they belong to the entire team.  Everyone has worked so hard to make sure that The Riverside is thriving despite the effects of the pandemic lockdowns, and the ongoing cost of living crisis.”

“I am also immensely grateful to our loyal customers who have stuck by us through thick and thin.”

‘Andy Link, well-known for his involvement in the Marches Slow Food Movement, and for being a creative and innovative chef, is also lauded for his community work,  green projects and support for local enterprises.

‘At The Riverside, more than 50 heritage trees have been added to the pub’s orchard, wildflowers abound, and the pub beehive has never been so busy.

‘There is currently a voluntary £1.50 supplement on each dining table to raise money for local groups’ green initiatives.

‘The first £500 was awarded to Leintwardine Community Garden, to buy wildflower plugs to create a meadow – the project not only improves habitat for pollinators, birds and small mammals, it involves children, bringing them closer to nature.’

“We believe very strongly that our pub should be part of a wider community – we all benefit from working together and supporting each other,” explains Andy.
