Hereford Cathedral is thrilled to announce the launch of a new look Toddler Group – Cathedral Seedlings – starting this September. The group will meet every Thursday from 10 am to 11:30 am in the Old Chapel.
The Education & Families Team at Hereford Cathedral has planned a series of excellent sessions designed to engage and delight toddlers and their grown-ups.
Attendees can look forward to a warm, welcoming environment where toddlers can pray and play with various activities that stimulate young minds and foster community spirit.
To add to the experience, refreshments, delicious cakes and healthy snacks for children will be provided by Hereford Cathedral Cafe, ensuring that everyone has a delightful morning.
In 2021, the Cathedral launched its first Toddler Group, which dedicated volunteers have successfully run every Monday morning.
The popularity and positive feedback from this initial group have highlighted the necessity and opportunity for a change.
As a result, the group will now meet on Thursdays instead of Mondays in the Old Chapel, located in The Cloisters, a much loved part of Hereford Cathedral.
Julie Allmark, Education and Families Officer, says: “We are so excited to be able to welcome toddlers and their carers to Cathedral Seedlings. We can’t wait to share some amazing new toys and activities with you all and provide a space for friendships to grow and fun to be had!”
She adds: “The Old Chapel is set in the beautiful Cathedral cloisters and is a warm and comfortable space for you to spend the morning enjoying Bible stories, crafts and music with your little ones.
“Worried about attending something new? Please don’t be, but if dropping me a line beforehand to introduce yourself would help then please do, I would love the hear from you.”
The Very Revd Sarah Brown, Dean of Hereford says: ‘I’m delighted that the work we have done in the last year to build a toddler group is now becoming Cathedral Seedlings! I know that this will be a wonderful step forward for all concerned, more comfortable, more social and a great opportunity to play and learn together.’
Everyone is welcome to join us on Thursday 12 September for the launch event in the Old Chapel from 10 am to 12 noon. Drop in anytime to meet our wonderful volunteer team. Cathedral Seedlings will then run every Thursday morning during term time, from 10 am to 11:30 am in Old Chapel.
Toddler Group is free to attend but donations are welcome. Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times. The group is for toddlers between the ages of 1 and 3, siblings are welcome. For more information about the new Toddler Group please contact education@herefordcathedral.org.
