Following a thorough review of evidence by detectives carrying out a forensic review of the murder of Harry and Megan Tooze in 1993, the 87-year-old man who was arrested in December, 2025, has been advised that he is no longer under investigation and has been released with no further action.

The forensic review of the case which is being led by the Major Crime Investigation Team at South Wales Police continues.

Detective Superintendent Mark O’Shea, said: “We remain committed to solving these dreadful murders which happened more than three decades ago.

“It is never too late to come forward – even with this passage of time I appeal to anyone who has any information about the murders to come forward and speak to us because information they have may help us get justice for the family.”

The next of kin of Harry and Megan Tooze are being supported and are regularly updated as to the progress of the inquiry.

The murders of Harry and Megan Tooze, also known as the Llanharry murders, were the high-profile killings of a couple at their remote Tŷ ar y Waun farm in Rhondda Cynon Taf, Wales, on 26 July 1993.

The couple were shot dead at point blank range with a shotgun in an execution-style killing, and their killer attempted to hide their bodies in the cowshed of the farm.

Their best china was found mysteriously laid out on the table in the farmhouse as if the couple were expecting a guest, and their lunch was found cooked but not eaten on the stove.

It was described by the lead detective in charge of the case as the “most baffling” case he had investigated.
