A pedestrian has died following a serious collision on the M42 last night (10 September).
Police were called to the westbound carriageway between junction 3 and 2 at around 10.15pm. The pedestrian was struck by a silver Vauxhall Insignia car. He sadly died at the scene. Enquiries are ongoing to confirm his identity.
Officers are urging any motorists in the area at the time and anyone who witnessed the collision, or who may have information or dashcam footage to assist with the investigation to please contact sciusouth@westmercia.police.uk
The westbound carriageway of the M42 remains closed in both directions between junctions 3 (Portway/Redditch) and 2 (Alvechurch/Hopwood), while investigative work is carried out. The eastbound carriage way may be subject to temporary closures throughout the day.
The carriageway is expected to be closed for several hours and drivers are advised to seek alternative routes. Diversions are in place.
