A 24-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following a single-vehicle collision on the A44 near Capel Bangor, Aberystwyth.

The crash happened at around 8.50pm on Tuesday, June 30, and is now the subject of an ongoing investigation led by Dyfed-Powys Police’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and Major Crime Team.

The man was also arrested on suspicion of domestic abuse and dangerous driving. He remains in police custody while enquiries continue.

Officers say there will be an increased police presence in the Capel Bangor area over the coming days as the investigation progresses.

Detectives are appealing for witnesses and are particularly keen to hear from:

  • Anyone who witnessed a disturbance in or around Capel Bangor at around the time of the incident.
  • Anyone with mobile phone, video or dashcam footage of a disturbance or of the people involved.
  • Anyone who was travelling on the A44 near Capel Bangor at the time.
  • Anyone who can identify other people who were present at the location.
