Police have confirmed that a mother and two children have died in a house fire.

Gloucestershire Constabulary confirmed in a press conference this morning that three people had died in the fire at a property in Brimscombe, Stroud, in Gloucestershire.

Emergency services were called to the property on Brimscombe Hill at 3am on Boxing Day.

Gloucestershire Constabulary, Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service and South West Ambulance Service all attended the scene.

A man, who escaped from the fire and attempted to save those inside the property, was taken to hospital. It is understood that the man is a serving Police officer.

A Gloucestershire Constabulary spokesperson said:

“The father has smashed his way out of the house through a bathroom window in order to try to access the children’s bedroom via the outside.”

The fire isn’t being treated as suspicious and is said to be a ‘tragic accident’.
