Officers were called to a stretch of the road between Rhymney and Dowlais at around 4.50am on Saturday 31 May where a quadbike was found overturned.

20-year-old Ethan Powell, from Brynmawr, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

A 41-year-old man, from Merthyr, has since been charged with multiple offences including causing death by driving a vehicle – driver unlicensed/uninsured, perverting the course of justice and failing to stop after a road accident.

He has since been released on conditional bail to appear at court in January.

Four men – aged 34, 37, 42, 45 from Merthyr – and a 44-year-old man from Blaenau Gwent, who were previously arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice and assisting an offender, have been released with no further action.
