Welsh Water have kindly responded to an email from Your Herefordshire this morning asking for a further update on the Commercial Road closure in Hereford.
A Welsh Water spokesperson said:
“We would like to apologise to the businesses in Commercial Road and Monkmoor Street for the disruption caused by these emergency works.
“These two repairs were urgent and unavoidable – the first caused a sinkhole in Commercial Road and the second, which we found during our investigations, in Monkmoor Street had a similar level of damage under the road surface.
“Work on the second repair is now complete, however, we are required to leave the concrete cure for seven days before we are able to backfill, reinstate the highway and remove our compound.
“We anticipate this will be done by September 20, however, if we are able leave site sooner we will.
“Once again, we would like to thank customers for bearing with us during what we appreciate has been a frustrating time.”
