An earthquake has hit parts of Herefordshire and the Welsh borders overnight.

The earthquake, centred at Knucklas in Powys, just over the border in Wales, registered 2.5 on the Richter scale.

People in the Knighton, Presteigne and Leintwardine areas are most likely to have felt any tremors.

In the UK, there are around 26 earthquakes with a magnitude of 2-2.9 on the Richter scale per year.

These earthquakes are typically minor and often not felt by people, being recorded primarily by sensitive instrument.
