West Mercia Police have this morning provided an update on an incident that officers were called to in Hereford on Wednesday evening.

Members of the public reported seeing a large police presence on Pomona Place, in the Whitecross area of the city at around 8pm.

A spokesperson for West Mercia Police told Your Herefordshire:

“We were called to reports of an altercation involving two men at around 8pm last night (Thursday) at Pomona Place in Hereford.

“One man in his 30s was located in Sainsbury’s shortly after and arrested on suspicion of assault GBH. He remains in police custody as enquiries continue.

“An ambulance was called for the other man, also in his 30s, who suffered head injuries and was dealt with by paramedics at the scene.”
