A woman has been arrested after a man was found with stab wounds near to Worcester city centre this afternoon (Sunday 1 June).
Officers were called to Warmstry Court on Quay Street by West Midlands Ambulance Service following reports of a stabbing at around 12.45pm.
When officers arrived at the scene a man, aged 69, was found to have suffered serious injuries. He was taken to hospital by air ambulance, where he remains.
A woman, aged 39, was then arrested at an address in Diglis on suspicion of attempt murder, and remains in police custody as enquiries continue.
Officers investigating the incident are keen to hear from anyone who may have been in the area at the time, who can help with enquires.
Detective Inspector David Hall, said: “We understand an incident of this nature can cause alarm in the local community, but I would like to reassure people that we believe this to be an isolated incident with no further threat to the wider public.
“A woman was swiftly arrested by officers following the incident and she remains in police custody as we carry out our investigation.
“I would encourage anyone who was in the area at the time, and may have witnessed the incident, to get in touch with officers immediately.”
