A Portuguese café has introduced a new buffet, giving its customers plenty of different flavours on their plate.

For £10, those eating at Aroma de Portugal on Hereford’s Bridge Street can enjoy a real variety of meat, fish and vegetable dishes from the Iberian country.

Erica Cardoso, the owner, says the café attracts a mixture of British and Portuguese customers with many of those excited to eat dishes they know from the Algarve or Lisbon.

“We get a lot of customers saying that they have been on holiday to Portugal and have enjoyed cod dishes or Portuguese cakes and want to try them again,” she added.

Those fond of a trip to Portugal will also be pleased to find beers such as Sagres and Super Bock in the fridge alongside some of the country’s famous vinho verde wines.

The famous pastel de nata (custard tart) and rabanadas (Portuguese French toast) are among the delicious sweet treats on offer while a selection of Brazilian drinks, such as caipirinha cocktails, are also available.

Aroma de Portugal is the latest independent to bring an international flavour to Hereford’s Bridge Street with Chinese, Indian, Thai, Italian and Japanese restaurants and takeaways already present.

The café’s back garden has already been used to host barbecues and Erica hopes the good weather continues so more fish and meat can be slowly cooked on the weekends.

Aroma de Portugal is open from 10am to 7pm from Tuesday to Sunday and their food can also be ordered on Uber Eats and Just Eat.
