A planning application submitted to Herefordshire Council reveals plans for a Nano-Brewery, tap style bar and an on-site cafe, in a former MOT Garage in Hereford.

The plans, submitted by Autopack Holdings Ltd, show detailed proposals for 2 Monkmoor Street in Hereford. (Located behind Mr Chips).

Proposal:

‘Proposed change of use from previous MOT garage and workshop to a mixed use consisting of coffee roastery, on-site cafe, Nano brewery, tap room style bar, covered smoking area adjacent to toilet block, training for people to roast, grain and pack their own coffee, associated offices, occasional events for local produce and craft markets and once monthly parking of fast food truck to operate from within the building and provision of 2 No staff parking spaces.’

The plans:

The proposal is intended to provide a small coffee roastery that will produce coffee for consumption at the on-site cafe;

Proposed that the cafe is environmentally conscious and provides an opportunity to educate customers/visitors on how food and drink is produced allowing for active participation opportunities in the process through experience days;

It is intended that the small coffee roastery will produce coffee to be consumed at the on-site cafe, small batch production to some local cafes and offer experience days where small groups of visitors can learn how to roast, grind and pack their own coffee to take away, and this will be 10.00 am to 6.00pm daily activity;

The cafe in the workshop will serve the coffee roasted on the site and other non-alcoholic beverages from 7.30am to 10.00pm and it will also sell local snacks and food items;

The nano brewery will be for experience days to show visitors how to make beer and can it in small batches for the experience attendees to take away. It will also be used to produce small test volumes of beer for the main brewery particularly. The beers will be gluten free and use local shops as far as possible;

There will be visiting local food and drink producers demonstrating how their products are produced and the products will be sold in the cafe or tap bar;

It is hoped to recruit other food and drink manufacturers to open their doors to help push locally produced food and demonstrating how buying local is best both economically and environmentally for.

There will be a tap room style bar that will serve beers produced on site together with other local beers and ciders, together with locally produced snacks;

There will be a monthly different fast food truck inside the building offering food from the truck but there will be no kitchen.

Occasionally, there may be local events to celebrate local food and drink producers, craft markets etc;

It is intended to close the premises at 2300 hours;

Low level recorded music will be playing in the background but it is not intended to have live music, but may apply for live music for specific events;

There will be a covered smoking area adjacent to toilet block and an area for storage of goods for recycling.
