Two men have appeared in court after being charged in connection with a burglary near Coleford last week.

Patrick McDonagh, aged 52 and of Woodstock Road, Coventry, and Thomas Calienda, aged 27 and of Elton Road, Newnham, both appeared at Gloucester Magistrates’ Court on Monday (19 May).

McDonagh was charged with three counts of burglary, one count of making threats to kill, one count of possessing an offensive weapon in public and two counts of attempted burglary. He was also charged with driving without insurance and driving without a licence.

Calienda was charged with three counts of burglary, two counts of attempted burglary and one count of possessing an offensive weapon in public.

Both men will next appear at Gloucester Crown Court on Thursday 12 June. McDonagh was remanded in custody while Calienda has been released on conditional bail.

The charges relate to a reported burglary in the Cannop area of Coleford which took place in the early hours of Saturday (17 May).
