A Herefordshire family are appealing to the public for help, after a young man suffered life changing injuries following an incident at a site in Cardiff.

Jorge’s story:

“Jorge has had his life changed in a matter of minutes and the future is scary.

“On the 1st of April, Jorge went to work as a ground worker and has been in Cardiff Hospital ever since.

“Jorge suffered a tragic incident through no fault of his own, where a 10 tonne digger ran over his foot leaving life altering injuries.

“This resulted in serious injury in Jorge’s right leg, then catching sepsis, leaving them no option but to amputate his right foot/lower leg. Since, he has remained on fluids, antibiotics and blood transfusions.

“Jorge remains positive but is aware the recovery is long and unpredictable.

“Jorge has always been hard-working and supported himself since the age of 16.

“Jorge was self-employed, he now has no means of income, has given up his flat, his work and all future plans.

“His family are working hard to build an annexe for Jorge to recover in when he is discharged – kind trades people are doing all they can, but of course this comes with added cost.

“Family are regularly travelling to Cardiff which is putting financial pressure on them too with expensive fuel costs.

“Jorge is a normal person, who was so unfortunate to experience this life-changing injury.

“If anyone can donate a small amount to help ease financial worries, this would be hugely appreciated.

“Jorge and family are usually very private and proud, but in times like this, we all need a little extra support.

“Thank you again, Jorge, Emma and family.”
