Google Street View – July 2024

From National Highways:

We’ve completed our safety improvements to the bends and junctions along the A49 between Woofferton and Llandinabo.

This has included:

Replacing signage to ensure road users are better informed of the road layout, and that the bends and junctions are signed throughout.

Renewal of road markings

Installation new traffic bollards.

We’re now carrying out resurfacing work at Dinmore Hill. Our work will take place from 10 April to 15 July 2025, excluding bank holidays.

To carry out our work safely, we’ll close the A49 overnight between 8pm and 6am, weeknights only, as follows:

10 April to 15 May 2025

We’ll close the A49 between A49/A417 Hope under Dinmore and Orchard Green crossroads in Wellington. During closures, we’ll install a fully signed diversion via A417 and A4103. Between A49/A4103 Roman Road roundabout (Starting Gate roundabout) and Orchard Green crossroads in Wellington the A49 will remain open for access to frontages only.

Following each of our shifts between 16 April and 10 May, we’ll need to install daytime temporary traffic lights on the A49 to allow the road surface to set to the required strength.

16 May to 27 June 2025

We’ll close the A49 between A49 Marlbrook roundabout and Orchard Green crossroads in Wellington. During closures, we’ll install a fully signed diversion via A44, A4110, A4103 and A417. Between A49/A4103 Roman Road roundabout (Starting Gate roundabout) and Orchard Green crossroads in Wellington the A49 will remain open for access to frontages only.

During this phase of our work, there will be no overnight access to the Shell garage at Hope under Dinmore. Other service stations can be found at either Shell Leominster or Applegreen Hereford. Please plan ahead.

During closures, we’ll install fully signed diversions which have been agreed by the local authority.

Access to frontages that fall directly within our closures, including homes and businesses, will be maintained throughout. To maintain access, we’ll install an intercom system along with dedicated staff to meet and escort vehicles. There may be short delays regarding access/egress while we make our site of work safe.
