A football club has been left stunned, after pitches were damaged by a man with a metal detector.
Belmont Wanderers Football Club took to social media to share their anger and frustration, after parts of the pitch were dug up. When approached, the man is said to have replied by saying – ‘**** off, this is council land’.
Below is the post shared on Facebook by Belmont Wanderers:
“Thanks to the clever cloggs who has decided to dig holes on our pitches, while using metal detectors.
“When confronted response was “**** Off it’s Council Land”.
“Yes it might be pal…however we have a 35 years lease and spend £16k per annum to maintain the pitches.
“Which comes out of the subs that all the kids pay to play football.
“Equally when the kids can’t play or even worse break an ankle due to the holes you dug trying to find the mystery treasure, I’ll send the parents round to your house…
“I would suggest you go up and make the ground good again.
“There’s plenty of fields not to dig on the ground where we play football.”
