A charity car wash and cake sale will take place in Hereford later this month to raise money for a poorly teenager.

The event takes place on Belmont Wanderers Football Pitches (HR2 7BF) from 9am on March 23 for Layla Phillips who has a brain tumour.

More than ÂŁ2,000 has already been raised for the Layla’s birthday wish page on GoFundMe.

More about Layla’s story, from a GoFundMe page that has been setup to support her.

“Hi, I’m Leanne and I’ve started this Go Fund Me for my cousins Daughter Layla Terri Phillips.

“Layla has a TP53 gene mutation inherited from her Dad which means that she is at a much higher risk of developing certain types of cancer than the rest of us. Sadly, she did.

“Two of her siblings have also inherited this gene mutation.

“In August 2022, Layla was diagnosed with a rare brain cancer (choroid plexus carcinoma) and although this was removed, both Layla’s hearing and sight were severely impacted.

“Layla’s cancer sadly returned and additional tumours were found, both around and on her spinal cord.

“She had surgery 2 weeks ago to remove what would be the last of these, even though her cancer could not be cured.

“Laylas Mum and family were advised to make as many memories with Layla as possible which they have been doing with funds kindly raised via a previous go fund me.

“These have helped an endless amount toward Layla being able to most of the things on her wish list.

“Devastatingly in the 2 weeks since her spinal surgery, another tumour has developed which is completely inoperable.

“The cancer has turned very aggressive and is spreading at a rapid rate causing Layla some terrible symptoms/side effects.

“Layla will be 14 in September this year and REALLY wanted to see disneyland Paris for her birthday but with her symptoms and how aggressive her cancer is now, she definately won’t be able to wait until September so we, as a family are praying we can get her there ASAP, hopefully within the next couple of weeks so she can celebrate her birthday whilst she is well enough to.

“This is the sixth time that Laura has had to face a cancer battle, once with her Husband who sadly passed away, three times with her Daughter Taya and this is now the second time with Layla and this time, nothing can be done.

“We can just try to give Layla and her immediate family some of the best memories possible.

“Please, please, PLEASE feel free to share this as far and wide as you can as we need ALL the help we get for Layla and her family at this time and if any businesses would like to help us or any individuals, please reach out to me via Facebook (Lea Willows) I’m more than happy to chat as much as I’m able.

“I do work full time but will get back to you as soon as I can.

“Layla doesn’t deserve the hand she’s been dealt.

“Even though she deals with this cancer, she still goes out of her way to check others are OK, she’s done a food drive for her local food bank and is planning to visit a dog shelter asap as wants to give some love to dogs without homes.

“Any help offered really would make more difference than you know.”

If anybody would like to follow Layla, she has a Facebook page I try to keep updated as much as possible:
