West Mercia Police have provided Your Herefordshire with a further update on reports of an incident involving a firearm in Ledbury on Saturday.
Inspector James Ashton, said: “I know there has been a lot of concern locally around an incident at Ledbury RFC on Saturday where a person was seen with a firearm.
“As soon as the incident was reported we deployed officers to the scene and a thorough search of the area was carried out, but no firearm or suspect were located.
“I’d like to reassure the local community that we’re taking the incident very seriously. An investigation has been launched and we’re actively pursuing several lines of enquiry.
“We will provide a further update as soon as we are able to.”

West Mercia Police have provided a major update following reports that a man was seen ‘armed with a firearm’ at a children’s football match in Herefordshire.
Matches at Ledbury Rugby Club were delayed on Saturday morning due to the incident.
A spokesperson told Your Herefordshire:
“We were called to Ledbury Rugby Football Club following a report of that a person had been seen with a firearm.
“Officers attended and a search of the area was carried out but no suspect or firearm were located.
“It later became clear that the sighting took place several hours before it was reported to police.”
