Emergency services have provided an update following a collision on the A49 at Callow overnight.

West Mercia Police, West Midlands Ambulance Service and Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service all attended the incident on the A49 between Hereford and Ross-on-Wye.

The incident involved a car and a lorry.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service said:

“We were called to reports of an RTC between a lorry and a car on the A49 in Callow, Hereford at 7.40pm on Wednesday (5th).

“We sent two ambulances and the Midlands Air Ambulance Critical Care Car from Strensham to the scene.

“On arrival crews found a woman, the driver of the car, who they treated for potentially serious injuries before conveying her to Hereford County Hospital under emergency driving conditions, for further treatment.

“A man, the driver of the lorry, did not wish to be assessed and was discharged at the scene.”

A spokesperson for West Mercia Police told Your Herefordshire:

“We were called to reports of an RTC between a lorry and a car on the A49 from Bullingham Lane to Portway, Grafton, Herefordshire yesterday evening (Wednesday) at 7.42pm.

“A woman was mechanically trapped in the car but cut free by the fire service and taken to hospital for a laceration to the head. The road was closed while emergency services attended the scene and reopened at 10.30pm.

No arrests were made.”

A spokesperson for Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service told Your Herefordshire:

“Four Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service crews – two from Hereford and one each from Fownhope and Leominster Fire Stations – were called at 19:45 on 5 March to an RTC involving a large vehicle at Callow, Hereford.

“The incident involved a car and a lorry. One female casualty was released by fire service personnel and handed over to the care of the ambulance service who attended along with police.

“The incident was marked as pending closure at 21:01.”
