Storm Darragh continues to cause disruption across Herefordshire this evening, with a number of flood warnings, alerts and road closures in place.

Gusts of more than 60mph have been recorded in Herefordshire, with gusts of almost 100mph recorded in Wales.

There are a number of road closures in place.

A4113 from A4110 to Manor Farm – Closed due to flooding

C1071 Mahollem Road to Powys Boundry, Huntington – Closed due to a fallen tree

C1098 Bridge Sollers – Closed due to a fallen tree

B4367 Shropshire Boundary near Bedstone – Closed due to a fallen tree

C1207 Peterchurch – Closed due to fallen tree

B4352 Stoney Street – Closed due to a fallen tree

U71205 Boat Lane, Glewstone – Closed due to an abandoned vehicle in the road

C1122 Wellington – Closed due to flooding

C1195 Peterchurch – Closed due to flooding

Flood Warnings are in place for the River Wye between Hay-on-Wye and Hereford, as well as North Hereford and South Hereford.

There are also now warnings in place for Rotherwas and Hereford to Ross-on-Wye.

“River levels are rising at the Old Wye Bridge river gauge as a result of heavy rainfall.  

“Consequently, flooding of property, roads and farmland is expected from tonight, 07/12/24. 

“We expect flooding to affect properties and roads in and around Rotherwas Hereford. 

“Predicted peak:- Old Wye Bridge 5.3m to 5.7m tonight, 07/12/24.”

The usual prone spots such as Letton, Holme Lacy Road, Greyfriars and Holme Lacy Causeway are all expected to flood.

There are also flood alerts on several other rivers, including the River Lugg, River Frome, River Arrow and River Teme.
