A busy Herefordshire road is likely to remain closed for several hours after a lorry overturned.

The incident occurred on the A4137 at Marstow, between the A49 (Hereford to Ross-on-Wye) and A40 (Symonds Yat).

A spokesperson for Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service said:

“Three Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service crews – one each from Hereford, Ross-on-Wye and Whitchurch Fire Stations – were called at 09:33 on 6 December to an RTC involving a large vehicle in Marstow.

“A lorry was on its side, completely blocking the road with the tractor unit in a field. 

“The driver had self-extricated and was handed over to the care of the ambulance service (who attended along with police.

“The incident was marked as pending closure at 14:04, although the road is expected to be closed for some time.”

A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service added:

“We were called to reports of an overturned lorry off the A4137, Marstow at 9.39am.

“We sent an ambulance to the scene where, on arrival, crews found a man who they treated for minor injuries before discharging him at the scene with worsening advice.”
