Police have arrested a man following a fire in High Town in Hereford in the early hours of this morning (Friday).
A spokesperson for West Mercia Police told Your Herefordshire:
“We received a call around 1:30am this morning (8 November) with a report of a fire at a property on High Town in Hereford.
“Officers arrived and the fire is being treated as arson.
“A 28-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of arson and remains in custody.
“From initial enquiries, officers investigating do not believe anybody else to be involved but do ask for anybody who may have seen any suspicious activity in the area at the time of the fire to contact them on 01432 347277.”
A spokesperson for Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service told Your Herefordshire:
“Two Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service crews from Hereford Fire Station were called to a building fire in High Town, Hereford.
“The fire, in the doorway of a shop, was extinguished by two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus and using one hosereel jet.
“There were no casualties. Police were also in attendance.
“The incident was marked as pending closure at 04:11.”
