Jesse Norman (MP for Hereford & Herefordshire South) welcomes Kemi Badenoch as the new Conservative leader.
Local MP Jesse Norman has given a very warm welcome to the election this weekend of Kemi Badenoch as the new Conservative leader.
Jesse was one of the earliest backers of Kemi’s bid for the leadership, with a column in the Daily Telegraph in July which said:
“A really good leader does not simply articulate but embodies the change they are seeking to make. In my judgement the right person to take on the challenges of facing Keir Starmer and Nigel Farage, to draw the best from the past but galvanise fresh energies and set a new direction, is Kemi Badenoch.”
Commenting now, Jesse said: “This is a great step forward, and all the better for seeing another glass ceiling smashed.
“But now the work really begins, as Kemi and the Conservative party begin the process of renewal — starting with last week’s Budget and its punitive effects on farmers, and GPs, dentists and small businesses — especially in rural areas.”
