Tom North, took part in the Richmond Marathon on September 15, 2024, to raise money for The Living Hope, a charity that supports individuals who have faced homelessness, addiction, and socio-economic challenges.

Here are Tom’s own words about his experience:

“For me, running a marathon for the first time to raise money for The Living Hope was something I thought of doing, on reflection, in a moment of madness. I should have just shaved my head or something.

“Whilst getting to know the people we were supporting through homelessness over the winter at The Living Hope, I thought, there must be something I can do to raise some funds and awareness of the troubles we are facing in Herefordshire.

“The support that I have received during the training and for the marathon itself, coupled with knowing the reason why I am doing it, is the only way I managed to get over the finish line.

“I want to thank everybody who has so kindly donated and given me such encouragement to do this.”

The Living Hope supports individuals who have faced homelessness, addiction, and socio-economic challenges. They guide them toward health, support, accommodation, and independence.

Tom’s incredible fundraising will go towards building an outdoor garden and relaxation area at the move-on accommodation TLH is opening.

This will provide a beautiful space for residents to dine, relax, and come together, enhancing their sense of community and well-being.

They are also wanting to set up a woodworking workshop where residents (in this male-only house) can develop skills and experience the fulfilment of making something with their hands. (and they need funds for that! As they rely entirely on donations).
