Hereford and Worcester Animal Rescue are desperately searching for a foster home for a dog that was abandoned near Leominster.
A spokesperson for Hereford and Worcester Animal Rescue said:
“Our darling girl, 4 year old Mia.
“This young lady is breaking our hearts, information leads us to believe she was recently cruelly abandoned in a village near to Leominster, very underweight and with awfully inflamed and itchy skin.
“Thankfully a kind family kept her safe until she reached our care.
“We always make sure all of our dogs are as comfortable as possible whilst they are with us but sometimes sadly a kennel environment just doesn’t suit some dogs.
“Mia isn’t sad in kennels but she is displaying signs of stress, she has had a thorough check up at our vets today as we were concerned about her.
“Mia has an obsession with her tail and upon being sedated today, some nasty lacerations were found at the end of her tail.
“Now we are unsure if these wounds are the reason that Mia gets so distressed and has been chasing her tail or if it’s an injury that has been caused by her chasing and biting her own tail due to a psychological issue.
“We know a bit of Mia’s past and it hasn’t been stable, she has been used as a trophy time and time again, she has been used and abused by the people who were supposed to care for her!
“For now, Mia is calm and has medication to help her skin and tail but we would love to try and get her into a foster placement so that she can be closely monitored going forward for any further signs of stress or abnormal behaviours.
“It is ESSENTIAL that a foster home must be.”
