A Hereford school has suffered ‘significant damage’ from flash flooding, with a letter sent to parents.
Holmer CE Academy, on Holmer Road in Hereford, suffered flash flooding as a result of storms in Herefordshire on Friday evening.
Jayne Maund (Headteacher at Holmer CE Academy) sent an email to parents saying:
“I am sure many of you are aware that the school flooded in the torrential deluge of rain that hit on Friday night.
“Unfortunately, the Year 3 and 4 block has suffered significant damage. Our priority is to ensure the children continue to receive the very best education we can offer them.
“We are working very hard to ensure there is no disruption to the children and we will open as normal on Monday morning.
“Whilst this flooding is upsetting for us, we are uplifted by the words of encouragement and support we have been offered.
“I have no doubt that our incredible, resilient, and committed staff and wonderful school community will come together and support each other as we navigate what will undoubtably be a challenging period of time.
“I am also acutely aware that many homes and businesses within our community have also suffered devastating flooding.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone who has suffered, as together, we move forward with the hope of some sunny days ahead.”
