Tom North who volunteers at the Living Hope Charity is looking to raise £1,000 to raise funds for their cause.

The funds raised will help them build a garden and woodworking workshop at their “move-on” accommodation, helping men transition from homelessness to stable living. This project will provide a relaxing space and a place for residents to develop new skills.

Tom told Your Herefordshire

“I’m raising money in aid of The Living Hope by running the Richmond marathon on the 15th September 2024, and every donation will help.

Having been a part of the amazing team of volunteers and getting to know the people we are helping, it’s so clear to me how even just a small amount of love and support can make such a massive difference. If I can raise anything for this charity, I know it will have such a huge impact on people’s lives.

The Living Hope, based in Herefordshire, supports individuals who have faced homelessness, addiction, and socio-economic challenges. They guide them towards health, support, accommodation, and independence. Additionally, they facilitate the transition from temporary to stable housing, focusing on independence through mentoring and advocacy.

This year, funds raised will build an outdoor garden and relaxation area at the move-on accommodation that TLH operates, providing a beautiful space for residents to dine, relax, and come together, enhancing their sense of community and well-being. We are also creating a woodworking workshop where residents, in this male-only house, can develop skills and experience the fulfillment of making something with their hands.

I have never run anything close to a marathon before, but knowing why I am doing it has pushed me on with the training, and I am praying it will get me past the finish line”
