The funeral of a popular figure in local football will take place in Hereford later today.
Eric Richards was a popular figure at Westfields Football Club for many years.
“The family Andrew & Sally of the late Eric Richards have asked us to share that his funeral will take place at the Hereford Crematorium 4.15pm on Thursday 16th May.
“Following the funeral everyone is invited to Westfields FC home Allpay Park HR4 9NA for refreshments and to share great memories of his life.”
Westfields Football Club shared the following post on 6th May, following Eric’s passing:
“It’s with great sadness that we bring you the news of the passing of club legend Eric Richards.
“A well known football man who had time for everyone, wherever and whoever we played, always standing behind the goal cheering and encouraging the lads during the good and bad times.
“Loved to listen to the team talks and feel the passion of the changing room before games, always taking the positives whether we won or lost.
“This picture recently taken shows Eric in his favourite spot before games with Kieron Blackburn whom he loved as a player.
“A committee member, supporter but most of all an absolute legend who will forever be in our hearts and sorely missed by all who met him and had the pleasure of his company. RIP Eric.”
