The M50 is likely to remain closed in both directions near Ross-on-Wye for several hours following a serious incident.
West Mercia Police, West Midlands Ambulance Service and Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service are all in attendance at the incident on the M50 between the junctions for Newent and Ross-on-Wye.
There is already a significant build up of traffic in the area.
The road is expected to remain closed for the evening rush hour.
Motorists are advised to use an alternative route.
