Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service have provided a more detailed report into an incident that occurred on the A40 near Ross-on-Wye in Herefordshire on Sunday evening.
A spokesperson for Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service told Your Herefordshire:
“Two Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service crews – one each from Ross-on-Wye and Whitchurch Fire Stations – plus the animal rescue team from Bromyard Fire Station were called at 19:02 on 7 January to an RTC involving a large vehicle on the A40 Westbound between Ross and Whitchurch.
“The incident involved a pick-up truck towing a trailer laden with six Shetland ponies.
“The trailer was on its side and the ponies were extricated in collaboration between fire service personnel and a vet before being taken to a safe location.
“Police were also in attendance and closed the road.
“The driver of the vehicle was not at the scene. The incident was marked as pending closure at 21:20.”
