Monmouth School Rowing Club row half and full marathons to raise funds for Movember. The charity event saw some of the boys row for three hours, whilst supporters entertained with karaoke in the boat house.
Saturday 19th November saw Monmouth School Rowing Club come together to raise money for the Movember charity and their work to change the face of men’s mental health.
The entire squad, consisting of Max, Will, George, Ben H, Phillip, Ben J (all year 13), James, Tomos, Harry, Rufus (all year 12), James, Kopano, Alec, Theo, Ollie and Ed (all year 11), completed either a half marathon or full marathon on the ergs, with special mentions to Ed and Theo, who pulled for 31 kilometres, and Max and Will, who endured a full 42 kilometres, taking three hours.
The event had plenty of support for the squad including a delicious bake sale and some fantastic karaoke, keeping the rowers entertained as they clocked up the kilometres.
Many of the boys arrived with home-baked cakes, cookies, and cupcakes for the bake sale in the boat house, and the remainder of the cakes were sold at a bake sale at school on Monday.
The total raised on the day from donations summed up to £391. This, added to the total raised from sponsorships, accumulates to almost £1300.
