As anyone who follows football regularly will know, games come thick and fast as you head towards the Christmas period, and the Hellenic League is no different.
Since the departure of Phil Glover, things have drastically changed at Westfields. Many players have decide to leave, including Adam Newbury who signed for city rivals Hereford Pegasus, and Daniel Stoneman who signed for Cribbs.
Fields brought in Scott Russell as manager, and he has had a big task on his hands to rebuild the squad, and he’ll be hoping that Saturday’s game at Mangotsfield will see a turn in fortunes, after Fields were unfortunate to lose their last fixture at home to Fairford Town, with many saying that it was the best Westfields performance for some time.
One of the players joining Westfields is former captain of Abergavenny Town FC, left back Jac Evans.
Manager Scott Russell described Jac as ‘an excellent defender with a great left foot and the type of character we are looking to bring into the club on and off the pitch.’
Jac Evans said: “I’m really pleased to have signed for Westfields and cannot wait to get started.
“A tough decision to leave Abergavenny Town but it was the right time to depart the club and no better way than to sign for a fantastic club with my two of my best mates.
“I’m looking forward to a new journey.”
Alongside the signing of Jac, came the signing of Nathan Davies.
Described by Manager Scott Russell as the ‘type of midfielder who likes to break up play and control the centre of the park, a really good addition to the squad, who supporters will love due to his energy and work rate.’
Last but not least, Westfields also announced the signing of right back George Clarke.
On signing for Westfields George commented on how impressed he is with the setup and ambition of the club, saying that it was hard to leave Abergavenny Town after ten really enjoyable years, however the time was right for a new challenge.
Manager Scott Russell said:
“George can play anywhere along the back line but preferably right back, a player with lots of energy, commitment and experience. We are delighted to get him on board as he is another one with a great attitude.”
