The iconic Crocodile 8 multi terrain race is due to take place again on Sunday 28 May at 3pm.
The quirky but highly popular event will see runners from across the country descend on the villages of Burghill and Tillington and run across fields, woodland up steps and across the challenging ascent through Badnage Woods.
The woods are known locally as “The Crocodile” due to the shape of the terrain matching the features of the Amazonian animal.
This year race organisers Wye Valley Runners have added a new trophy – The Jan Edwards Crocodile Cup.
The cup is in memory of the club’s much loved team member Jan who sadly died after a long search last year.
Race organiser Paddy Nugent said:
“Jan loved running and walking and delighted in taking part and supporting the Croc 8 for many years.
“She could often be seen wandering the woods with partner Brian and her family.
“This trophy will help us all keep Jan in our memories and it’s fitting that the trophy will go to the first woman from our county to cross the line on the big day”
