A Herefordshire Council Cabinet member has questioned the transparency of the Conservatives and the Liberal Democrats ahead of the local elections this Thursday.
Cllr Liz Harvey has taken to social media to question the transparency of the Conservatives and the Liberal Democrats ahead of the vote on Thursday 4th May.
On Facebook, Cllr Liz Harvey said:
“The Conservatives say they have candidates in every county ward. But there’s no information about any of their candidates on their websites – many of whom seem to have no connection to the places they say they want to represent.
“No manifesto for the county has been produced and no shadow budget costing their unpublicised plans or election literature promises has been put forward by the Tories.
“Why? How can their ambition to “take back control” of the county be seriously considered in the absence of even the most basic information?
“There is no substance behind any of their campaign rhetoric and they have been ridiculed even in the national press for their ‘Fake Newspaper’ stunt.
“As bankrupt of ideas and out of touch locally as their party daily proves itself to be nationally.
“Anyone seriously thinking of voting Tory on Thursday should be asking some jolly hard questions of their local candidate.“
Cllr Harvey then questioned the Liberal Democrats by saying:
“The Liberals say they have candidates in every county ward. But they aren’t all listed on their website and there’s no information there about any of their candidates – many of whom seem to have no connection to the places they say they want to represent.
“No Liberal representatives attended any of the husting events which have been arranged by local groups. They’ve been empty-chaired on each occasion.
“No manifesto for the county has been produced and no shadow budget costing their election promises has been put forward by the Liberals.
“Why? How can their ambition to “take control” of the county be seriously considered in the absence of even the most basic information?
“Bankrupt of ideas and out of touch locally, and invisible nationally.
“Anyone seriously thinking of voting Liberal on Thursday should be asking some jolly hard questions of their local candidate.“
