Aldi is running a nationwide competition to find a design for its latest lorries.
As part of its award-winning Get Set to Eat Fresh education programme with Team GB and ParalympicsGB, the supermarket is inviting school children aged between five and 14 to submit hand-drawn designs focused on inspiring others to eat healthy, sustainable food.
Entries are open until Friday 23rd June and will be judged by a panel from Get Set to Eat Fresh. Representatives from Aldi, alongside Team GB and ParalympicsGB athletes – including weightlifting silver medallist Emily Campbell and judo gold medallist Chris Skelley – will select a winner for England, another for Wales and one for Scotland.
Winners will see their design on an Aldi lorry, which will deliver the supermarket’s products to stores across the country, while Team GB and ParalympicsGB athletes will visit their school to share the good news.
The supermarket will also reward the winning artists with Aldi vouchers worth £100 for them to spend and a further £1,000 for their school, alongside an exclusive Team GB and ParalympicsGB goody bag.
Runners-up prizes are also available, with the pupils in second place winning £750 for their school, along with £50 in Aldi vouchers for them and a goody bag, while those awarded third place will receive £500 for their school and £25 in vouchers to spend themselves.
The competition is part of the supermarket’s partnerships with Team GB and ParalympicsGB. It also forms part of Aldi’s Get Set to Eat Fresh education programme, that aims to inspire young people aged five to 14 to eat healthily and has so far reached over two million children across the UK.
Jemma Townsend, Marketing Director at Aldi, said: “The Design a Lorry competition is part of our collaborative efforts with Team GB and Paralympics GB to promote healthy eating among young people.
“We’re looking forward to receiving a diverse range of entries and are excited for participants to learn more about the advantages of eating a nutritious diet through the competition.”
Tim Ellerton, Commercial Director at Team GB said: “We’re really excited to be bringing our Design a Lorry competition with Aldi back for a second year! It’s a great opportunity for school pupils to get involved with, helping to inspire them to feel passionate about fresh, healthy food by bringing it to life in a creative way.”
Jenny Seymour, Commercial Director at ParalympicsGB said: “This competition offers a great chance for students to be recognised for their creativity, whilst also encouraging and motivating them to eat healthily. We’re proud to be involved and can’t wait to see the final designs.”
