Hereford Medical Group has issued an urgent message to patients following a concerning incident involving a patient and a phone call.
The patient notice explains how a patient from Hereford Medical Group received a call from someone pretending to be from the ‘Medical Centre’.
They asked a number of questions and told the patient that they would require a panic alarm at a monthly cost.
Hereford Medical Group have this morning share the following message on their Facebook page:
“Please note that we have received a report that one of our patients has been contacted by someone pretending to be from the ‘Medical Centre’.
“They made enquiries about the medication that the patient was taking, and told them that they would require a panic alarm at a monthly cost.
“Luckily, the patient did not pass on their bank details to the caller, and instead contacted us to see whether this was a genuine call – it wasn’t!
“We would like to reassure our patients that we would never call and ask for payment information unexpectedly.
“The only time you will be asked by us to pay a fee is when you have requested a specific report or service that attracts a pre-agreed charge.
“HMG is not associated with this alarm company in any way, and will never make any patient information available to third parties.”
