Your Herefordshire has been made aware of exciting plans for a significant investment in a Hereford secondary school that would see it expand to cope with extra demand due to an increasing population in the city.
Herefordshire Council will meet next week to discuss the plans for the expansion of Aylestone School in Hereford.
If the scheme is approved next Thursday and planning permission is granted, the school will see a £13.1 million investment in the school from the council and the Department for Education (DE).
The proposed project includes some remodelling of the existing school and the provision of a new teaching block and sports hall.
The significant investment in new facilities would greatly benefit both current and future students of Aylestone.
Expanding the school would increase the capacity and enable the school to provide 300 additional places for students from September 2026, in response to rising numbers of children in Hereford City.
If the expansion goes ahead, increasing the size of Aylestone would mean that the school remains a smaller school in the city but also allows the school to offer more opportunities, both through the curriculum and also extracurricular activities, providing children with the opportunity to continue their education in a thriving, collaborative and caring school.
