Gwent Police have issued an appeal following a collision involving a car and a van near Monmouth earlier this week.

A spokesperson for Gwent Police said:

“Officers investigating the collision would like to speak to anyone who was on the A4136 near Monmouth between 4.30pm and 5pm on Wednesday 16 November.

“We’re appealing for witnesses after receiving a report of a road traffic collision on the A4136 near Staunton Road at around 4.50pm on Wednesday 16 November.

“Officers attended, along with personnel from the Welsh Ambulance Service and South Wales Fire and Rescue Service, following a collision between a silver Hyundai i10 and a white Nissan van.

“Paramedics confirmed that the driver of the car, a 94-year-old woman, had died at the scene.

“Her next of kin have been informed and are receiving support from specialist officers.

“We’re asking for anyone who may have witnessed the collision or any motorists with dashcam footage that were using the A4136 Staunton Road near Monmouth between 4.30pm and 5pm to contact us.
