Detectives investigating a murder after the body of a woman was found in a flat in Stroud have been given more time to question those arrested in connection with the incident.

Magistrates have granted a warrant of further detention for a man from Stroud who was arrested on suspicion of murder.

At Cheltenham Magistrates’ Court earlier today, Saturday 12 November, an additional 36 hours of detention was authorised. This will expire tomorrow evening, Sunday 13 November.

A man and woman from Stroud, who had also been arrested on suspicion of murder, remain in police custody after 12-hour extensions were granted by a Superintendent. These will expire later tonight (Saturday).

Officers had been called to an address in Chapel Street on Friday 4 November at around 4.15pm after concerns were raised by a neighbour.

The death was initially treated as being unexplained, but the results of a post-mortem examination led to a murder investigation being opened.

The body is believed to have been undiscovered for some time and detectives are still waiting for confirmation of the identity of the victim.

The Major Crime Investigation Team is keen to hear from anyone who has any relevant information which could assist.
