A family has thanked hundreds of generous people for support with donations after a devastating fire destroyed their home.

The incident, which occurred in Merthyr Tydfil on Friday evening has seen much of the property destroyed by fire.

A relative of the family who lives in Hereford shared a post on Facebook asking for support and the family have since been overwhelmed by the kind donations of items by residents from across South Wales and Herefordshire.

In a post on Facebook, a family relative called Jolene said:

“Hi all, my mum has just had a huge house fire where everything is gone.

“She has two disabled children who now have nothing.

“Does anyone have any clothing etc they could kindly donate? They are devastated with nowhere to go.”

“We are so grateful that everyone got out safe, but the trauma and uncertainty this has brought means we are reaching out for any support there is.

“Thank you for reading this, if you can’t support financially that’s okay, we know things are tight but please share.”

Since the appeal was launched, donations of items have poured in and more than £800 has been raised.
