Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service crews were called to Greyfriars Bridge in Hereford overnight, to reports of a fire.
Crews attended the incident with West Mercia Police, following concerns that the fire may have been started deliberately, with a number of youths seen in the area at the time of the fire.
A spokesperson for Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service told Your Herefordshire:
“Two Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service crews from Hereford Fire Station were called at 20:24 on 26 September to a fire in the open at Greyfriars Bridge, Hereford. A fire was extinguished by two firefighters using breathing apparatus.
“Police also attended and a fire investigation was carried out due to suspicious ignition and a number of youths being seen in the area. Highways also attended. The incident was marked as pending closure at 00:24.”
