LEGO® fans from Herefordshire and beyond have flocked to see the LEGO®: Brick History exhibition – with over 500 visitors on the opening day alone!
The exhibition is building up to an exciting Easter with a variety of fun, interactive workshops hosted by Ignite CiC at Hereford Museum and Art Gallery. Exhibition tickets must be booked to attend the workshops, and space for each session is limited so families are urged to arrive early to avoid disappointment.
Awesome Mini LEGO® Movies (Saturday 6 April / Thursday 18 April)
1 hr workshops from 10.30, last workshop at 2.30pm
Create your own LEGO® movie! Use stop frame animation techniques to tell a story, create characters and landscapes using LEGO® and set the scene with your own drawn background.
On Your Marks! Get Set! LEGO®! (Tuesday 16 April / Wednesday 24 April)
45 min workshops from 10.30, last workshop 2.55pm
Limber up your fingers for a series of quick fire builds, games and challenges including Mad Libs LEGO® and What Are You Doing? Followed by hilarious, weird and wonderful group stories inspired by your LEGO® builds. Age 5+ recommended.
Once Upon a…Piece of LEGO® (Friday 19 April / Monday 22 April)
45 min workshops from 10.30, last workshop 2.55pm
Warm up your vocal chords and unravel outrageous, magical and mega-action group-stories inspired by your LEGO® builds. Also includes a series of quick fire builds, games and challenges including Mad Libs LEGO® and What Are You Doing? Age 5+ recommended.
Pit Stop Power! (Friday 26 April / Saturday 11 May)
1.5 hr workshops from 10.30, last workshop at 2.10pm
Construct a LEGO® vehicle and build in a power source either using a motor and simple electronics or a balloon. Pit your vehicle against other contestants, points will be given for speed but also style, originality and function.
LEGO® Hero activities (variety of dates, see website for details)
Creative LEGO® building, LEGO® graffiti wall, Duplo and soft bricks for younger visitors. LEGO® Heroes and students from the NMiTE university team will be on hand to help.
LEGO®: Brick History will be at Hereford Museum & Art Gallery until Saturday 18 May 2019 and is guaranteed to delight families and LEGO® fans of all ages as they relive key moments in history through inspirational models. From DNA and the Big Bang to Martin Luther King and mobile phones, Warren Elsmore and his team have created a celebration of our shared stories, struggles, and triumphs, made from everyone’s favourite Danish toy.
As part of the main exhibition, an interactive zone features a LEGO® graffiti wall, soft bricks, and inspirational brick building and modelling activities for all ages. Children can take the ‘Minifigure Challenge’ in the museum’s historic displays and every completed challenge will win a free child entry ticket to the Black & White House Museum. As an addition to the main exhibition, the museum is showcasing the talents of LEGO® fans across the county, who submitted amazing models for display, some even with a Herefordshire theme.
And if that isn’t enough fun, Hereford BID has created the Hereford City LEGO® trail with models made by schools and individuals across the county. Families are challenged to find all the LEGO® models in shops around High Town and take a selfie. Each completed trail will be entered into a prize draw at the museum to win one of three amazing LEGO® sets (kindly donated by Hereford Model Centre, Philip Morris and Son and The Entertainer).
Adults £3.50 / Children £2 / Family £8.50: Due to high demand, Friday evening, Saturday and Easter holiday tickets are only valid for the specific session booked. Tickets for all other times are valid all day.
