Dore Abbey has received £12,500 from an ASDA Grant. The Investing in Spaces and Places grant is a higher value Asda Foundation grant for local groups aimed at improving community spaces and places where local people can be together and thrive.
The Abbey has been awarded this grant to make repairs to the historical building.
This Ancient monument in the Golden Valley dates back to 1147. It now is a place where the community gather for worship, a place for visitors and holds events for the community to enjoy the arts.
Becci Forsyth, ASDA Hereford Community Champion said: “When I visited to present the grant cheque to Hazel Prouse and Philip Wilcocks CB DSC DL the current Churchwarden at Dore Abbey and PCC representatives it was great to see the essential repairs had begun.
“It was lovely to visit the Abbey to experience this local cultural heritage. The PCC are a very dedicated and hard-working group whom deserve thanks for their past, present and future efforts. The Abbey is a Hereford Treasure.”
