A major route linking Herefordshire with South Wales is closed this morning due to a severe collision.
Emergency services are dealing with a collision on the southbound carriageway of the A449 between Monmouth and Newport, close to the junction for Usk. Gwent Police have confirmed that the road is closed at present and is likely to remain closed for the next few hours.
Anyone travelling towards Newport or Cardiff, as well as the Severn Bridge are advised to use an alternative route. Please expect major delays on surrounding routes for the rest of the morning.
