Herefordshire is starting to welcome a number of Ukrainian refugees, with residents across the county providing fantastic support for families fleeing the devastating war in Ukraine.
Herefordshire has once again stepped up, providing support for those remaining in Ukraine by sending lorry after lorry load of supplies to the Ukrainian border with Poland.
The next step was to get sponsor families to provide accommodation for those arriving in the United Kingdom and once again, the residents of Herefordshire have really stepped up to offer support.
The Hereford Help for Ukraine Facebook Group is full of images, information and much more. Olga and the team at Three Elms Trading Estate really deserve a huge pat on the back for the amazing response they’ve provided since the war in Ukraine started.
A post in the group on Friday by Dean Granger said:
“So this is why we do what we do at Hereford Help For Ukraine.
“Welcoming the first of the Ukrainian refugees to our centre, meeting truly inspirational families that have been through so so much over these past weeks. Aid that you, the amazing people of Herefordshire have donated to help them settle in and feel the warmth of support from our local Herefordians.
“Meeting with Oleksandra and her family today, made myself and Johno feel so so proud of everything that we are achieving as part of the greater effort. An effort that we couldn’t do without you fantastic donors, I can’t deny, we’ve had some tears.
“The family were so very glad to be here, we’ve supplied them with everything they need for over these coming days and we’ve promised them ongoing support over these coming weeks and months in whatever way they need it.
“On behalf of Oleksandra and her beautiful family, from our hearts, thankyou everyone so very much!”
