Students and staff at Dyson Perrins Church of England Academy have shown their support for the people of the Ukraine by holding a series of fundraising events in the past two weeks.

The fundraising efforts have seen the whole school pull together to arrange the events, which have included a pancake sale at breaktime, a cupcake sale over lunchtime and also a raffle where the prizes have all been donated by the school community. The prizes will be drawn on Friday 1 April.

The events have already raised several hundred pounds for the Ukraine appeal and the school hopes to increase this total still further before the end of the month.

Speaking about the fundraising efforts, Fred Dowdeswell, Finance & Business Manager at Dyson Perrins, said:

“Like most people right across the world, everyone here at Dyson Perrins has been touched by the plight of the people of the Ukraine.

“Lots of our students suggested we did something to show our support and it took no time at all for the first events to be arranged. It has been lovely to see staff and students join together to support a common cause and the donations have flooded in for the cake sales and for the raffle.

“Further events are planned in the next couple of weeks and we’re very proud of the way the school community has responded to appeals for help and for fundraising ideas. This staff have also been arranging their own cake sale in the staffroom which will add to the money raised.

“There is a determination to raise as much money as possible and I think everyone here feels that they want to do their bit to help a country that is enduring such an unimaginably difficult time.”
